Mt. Olive Collects Items for Lutheran World Relief School Kits

The women’s group (WELCA) and the Social Ministry Committee of Mt. Olive Lutheran in Hickory are collecting school supplies to assemble Lutheran World Relief “Project Promise School Kits” to be distributed world-wide in the fall. Imagine having to choose between a meal or purchasing a notebook. Project Promise School Kits are sent to places where even the few required school supplies may be more than a family can afford. Pencils and paper can help write a positive future. Each kit will include:

    • Four “70 ct.” spiral notebooks
    • Five unsharpened pencils
    • One pencil sharpenerBook pack LWR
    • One 2½” eraser
    • Five blue or black pens (no gel ink)
    • One ruler
    • One pair of blunt scissors
    • One box of 16 or 24 crayons

Items may be placed in the box located in the church narthex or may be dropped off at the church office. Collection of school supplies for local students and schools will begin soon.
